Journal

I really only keep up this blog because it’s my defacto journal.
I do appreciate my two loyal readers though!!

Things I need to document before I forget:
Hyrum: The incredibly tender way he approaches and scoops up small insects, cats, anything else that he notices in nature. The way he bursts into the house shouting, “Mom! Mom!  You have to see this _____!” Cicadas, grubs, moths, or whatever, he will insist that “It’s so cuuuuute!”
Hannah: Whenever she’s feeling pleased about something, she says “Chickie, chickie!” because her chickens epitomize all things joyous.
Nate: the many many times when our family was happy, healthy and together doing simple little things, and the Spirit would prompt me to “cherish this day.” I’m so glad I did.
Naomi: “On the back-day I...” means “yesterday, I...” or “the other day, I...”. Clever girl! I love kid logic. It teaches me so much about language, social mores, and many other complex things in our world that we neglect to examine closely unless we are lucky enough to experience life in the company of small children!

Dress up

Hannah had this cute dress as a little girl, it even came with a matching dress for a doll. I made her wear it often because i just adored the print and style. Naomi wore it once or twice last year but it was too large. Then she received several gorgeous dresses from cousins and friends and this dress got set aside. This week I pulled it out and put it on Naomi right after her bath. She’s grown so much that it’s almost too small!  I had to take a photo before I retire the dress. I wish I had ironed it, but oh well- at least I got a photo!

School

All three kids are doing well at school. Sorry, I never do photos- I’m a rebel. Or perhaps lazy.

Naomi is in full day kindergarten. Hannah is a seventh grader (middle year of middle school).  Hyrum is a sophomore. This year we experienced probably the most smooth beginning to a school year for our family.

However...within three days Naomi was home with a cold. Everyone has taken a turn since then. Sigh.

I’m keeping busy putting together details for our annual Cub Scout outdoor activity (next Saturday). It’s always a lot of fun. This year we will have a new campsite and will do some canoeing...hopefully it doesn’t rain!
It’s supposed to storm all week- so we might have to contend with a little mud...but al least we will be able to cook over a campfire!

Hannah got a very early birthday present: a bicycle!  She has only recently started riding a bike...umm...oops. She loves it so far.
