Nate is just too dang cute...

When I started calling all of Nate's doctors to let them know we were moving, several of them wanted one last appointment to "wrap things up".  I just think that they are all too attached to the little guy and wanted to see him one last time.  (just kidding, I knew we'd have to wrap things up.)

So we've been in Boise even more often than usual lately.  Tuesday we had 5 different appointments; but to be fair, three of them were weekly OT, PT, and Speech.  Anyway, Nate seems to think that he needs even more attention, because he is refusing to shake this sinus infection or whatever it is.  We are on round two of antibiotics and his primary care doc is threatening us with a couple-day stint at the hospital for a "tune up" if Nate doesn't shape up!  (that would be for IV antibiotics and IGI infusion...in other words, a lot of sitting around and watching cable.)  Now, simple hospital stays with Nate are actually usually a mini-vacation for Mama, but the timing is kinda not the best this time.  So...we will see how things go.

Sorry, just had to gripe a bit.  I've been trying to get to Oregon to say goodbye to my family, but a sick kiddo has been preventing that.  I really do know that things ALWAYS work out for the best, and I know better than to insist on things going MY way instead of what the Lord intends, but... I just had to whine a little.  Now I'm done.  Things will work out.

Otherwise, we are doing really well here.  I'm making progress on the packing, the kids are being pretty good, Rusty's really enjoying his new job, things are pulling together for the move.  We had our first snow, and Hannah still hasn't figured out that snow happens on more days than just Christmas, so we have a lot of conversations about that.  Hyrum wants to move TOMORROW, but I don't think he realizes that he will be leaving all of his friends behind.  I think he will really miss his paraeducator the most, honestly.  She is an absolute gem, and has been by Hyrum's side at school since Kindergarten.  She was gone for a day and a half this week, and when she came back, Hyrum announced that he was "MAD!" and acted all pouty around her.  Once she explained that she had been taking care of her sick kids, he forgave her for "abandoning" him and became his normal self.  ;o)  What a kid.  She can get him to learn so much, is so patient and inventive, and she never gets the wool pulled over her eyes, either!  We will miss all of the wonderful people at his school, they have been incredible.

Anyway, not much going on at the home front.  Just watching the days zip by... excited and scared.

Take care!

A little Kansas History

Beecher Bible and Rifle Church - Wabaunsee, Kansas

The Beecher Bible and Rifle Church in tiny Wabaunsee, Kansas, represents one of the more interesting and unusual stories of Kansas' early days of statehood.
The fledgling abolitionist community of Wabaunsee was in desperate need of rifles and ammunition to protect themselves from terrorizing pro-slavery Missourians. In response, their sponsoring church in New Haven, Connecticut, took up a collection to purchase 27 Sharp rifles.
These rifles, along with 25 Bibles, were shipped to Wabaunsee, by way of Missouri on the Missouri River, in crates marked Bibles. From that day to the present, the church has been known as the Beecher Bible and Rifle Church.
A congregation of approximately fifteen continues to worship weekly in this historic church building.

I drove out there today by chance after church 3 mile soff teh highway and saw a sign for the "historic beecher bible and rifle church". Pretty cool.
