The flu and several other nasty bugs have hit our area hard. I haven't felt it was safe to send Nate back to school since his last discharge from the hospital. This week he started homebound services. For the entire month of February, the school will send someone for an hour or two each day to keep up Nate's therapy services (physical, occupational, speech). More and more students are coming down ill- at the end of last week, it was averaging 30 students a day (normally it would be half that). At the end of this week, 50 students were home (or sent home) sick. Tonight, one of the hospitals in Topeka stopped admitting ER patients- they don't have any more beds. Yeeesh.
So, we're spending February as semi-hermits. More than usual- I've always been a hermit at heart.
